So a long time college friend of mine (the blogger of A Lucky Ladybug) is running a charity drive for Soles4Souls, a not for profit organization that strives to keep the less fortunate souls of this earth shod, clothed, and fed. This organization was founded after the 2004 tsunami that hit Southeast Asia.
They accept new shoes that will be given to those in need and they accept used shoes to sell to supplement funding the relief efforts of the charity.
I know that a lot of people who read this blog does not live in the Southeast Corner of Michigan, so it would be difficult for you to help me help my friend with her charity drive. However, if you are in the area and would like to help, please let me know and we can arrange a pick-up of your shoes.
Also, there are drop locations for shoes, clothing, and other necessities that are needed for everyday life. I'm not sure how far these drop locations extends, but you should be able to find out if there's one in your area at their website.
The 3 connected charities are Soles4Souls, Clothes4Souls, and Hope4Souls. Unfortunately, the Hope4Souls website isn't exactly helpful at the moment, but the other 2 have fully functioning, fully fledged website for you to peruse.
For as long as I could remember, I have always opted to donate my old gently used clothes and shoes to charity (typically to The Salvation Army or Goodwill). Mainly because I know how hard it is to find anything usable at their stores. For the most part, people donate the worst of the worst in their wardrobe and I've known many people who go to these places on a lark to find the most horrid costume for a college party (though in truth, I did it once and felt horribly dirty for it).
So please, do a good thing and help out a worthy cause.
As they say about karma, whatever you do comes back to you 3 folds.

Hi Angie! I really enjoyed reading your post. I think we've all been to Goodwill for a Halloween or costume party at one time or another! Thank you for continually donating your old clothes and shoes. And thank you for supporting Soles4Souls. Without people like you, we would be unable to distribute a pair of shoes every 7 seconds!
